i'm purchasing some servicing parts for the new season and looking at a new fuel filter .

the 318is version is different to all the others and about £15 more expensive ...any valid reason for this ?

The fuel filter for the M42 is made of special triple matrix carbon weave so that it can get fuel fast enough to the S14's only true rival motor.

It's worth the extra - pay it.

ETK shows one possible filter for the iS - 13 32 1 720 102, 55mm diameter.
This is also shown as being fitted to many assorted other E30s (and other models) of all engine sizes.
The other filter fitted to the 'other' E30s is 13 32 1 270 038, which is 80mm diameter.
AFAIK, which of the two sizes to use depends on whether its fitted in the old fuel pump location, in front of the LH rear wheel, or at the rear corner of the engine bay, and of course, depends on the mounting bracket you have.

The iS filter has a small ECU built in that is programmed to feel remorse at such a low cylinder count.

I always thought E30s had the same filter, it was just a question, of their location
