17" Alpina reps

Is there different styles of alpina reps?

I seen a few that look better than other if you know what i mean lol, after a set at the minute,

Any names of brands etc?

Never looked to see what these are, but I think RG reps are similar to the genuine design

bk repzzz are 17" innit blud

rg reps are 16" , same as genuine

The dudes on a budget so rg's are going to be expensive and I thought he wanted 17's

Please avoid BK racing reps.....

Buckle easy

Nightmare to balance (near always need loads of weight)

Poor paint, corrosion to tyre seating area is guaranteed so lots of annoying tyre "bead" leaks

Went through a stage of offset stamped in the wheel being different to actual offset (so wheels pointing off at funny angles)

I'm in the tyre trade and all the ones I see are junk!

Anybody know what size of spigot rings are needed so that these alloys for the hub?

Measure the back of the wheel center and the hub bore on the car. The difference should tell you what size you need .

Failing that most places that sell alloy wheels will have packs to buy and some sort of fitting guide book.

It's not the end of the world to use with out spigot rings just makes it a pain to line the wheel up and prevents messing up the wheel bolt/ hub threads. Tip of a boot/ shoe usually lifts the wheel enough to help.

Thanks for the reply, just I purchased a new set and I thought they were direct fit as they were 4x100 but I tried them and the hub is too small for the centre bore of the alloys

Do you mean a new set of wheels?
New alloy wheels as in box fresh should come with the spigot rings new nuts, Center caps etc.....

Either way contact supplier /who ever made them to ask what size or why they weren't sent!

I know there are plenty of BK Rep knockers (hahah, knockers) but I don't understand all this stuff about them being easy to buckle. What sort of Mong driving style do you have to have to buckle wheels?!

A few potholes will do it !

It's weak alloy (if it even is alloy) and cheaply made so it doesn't take much to knock them out of roundness and turn then oval!

Then poor paint

Add in a pig to wheel balance after the above

..... Then they corrode badly around valve holes and tyre seating area leading to annoying
Punctures / air loss over the course of a week to a month!

I'm sure there's more but that's all that comes to hand...

it's not just the above. 17" wheels on an E30 means silly rubber band tyres, with hardly any sidewall to absorb the energy from falling into potholes, making any wheel of this size likely to crack or bend, however good the material it's made from.

Brians correct, I had some 17 inch wheels last year and they kept cracking as well as the ride being awful. With our poor roads in the uk i'd be wary about running anything under 50mm on the depth profile.

Brian's post is a more measured response. All 17" wheels may suffer from cracking, it's not specific to BK's. Couple this wheel size with an extremely slim side wall, and it is going to end in disaster. Now add in 'slammed' lowering and every wheel will be guaranteed to crack.

My last e30 came with 17" alloys I ran 215 45 17 front and 225 45. 17 rear and it "tramlined" like mad
On motorways etc ....... My current one drove a lot better on the 14 " and better again on 15"

Think it was more wheel size that caused the tramlineing... 10mm over size is nothing unheard of bmw and merc have been doing so for years.

10 on fronts and 20mm on the back..... I suppose 17" isn't going to help with things.

Not really, was half dead when I sold it on.. Only cost me £90 !
Apparently it's been saved by some hero...

Will be avoiding 17" and very low profiles now, it's got very regular to see people almost about to cry when you tell them what that pothole has done to their fancy rims etc at work ...... The welding guy we use will be coming to the summer BBQ and the Xmas do this year if things go like last year !!!
