been trying to get in touch with zoom over the past few weeks with no avail. anyone know how much they charge for their inlet and exhaust manifolds for the e36 m3-e30 conversion? i do apologise if this is in the wrong section also.

wait a bit is all i can say be patient, they are very good and make the conversion very easy,
there is a lot of debate and argument over them.

never seen the exhaust manifold but the inlet looks like it restricts the 6 pot..
no ones ever posted independant figures before and after either

I think Zoom are moving premises so they may be pretty busy.
As for the inlet and exhaust - the last prices I got from John (early last year) were around Ԛ£400 for the inlet plenum and Ԛ£650 for the mild steel exhaust manifold (Ԛ£750 for stainless).
I cant remember the exact figures, but it should give you an idea.
EDIT - Just found some prices in PBMW Jan 05.
Ԛ£1703.75 for the inlet, exhaust and engine mounts (or buy them from the dealer) and I hope also includes fitting!!
The exhaust manifold does look good and well made, but Im not keen about it being a 6 into 1 manifold. Both O2 sensors are in the one collector so I cant see how they can monitor the exhaust gas accurately.
Also, I dont know if it will fit with the E36 steering rack conversion - something to ask John when you speak to him.

Thats my worry about the inlet restricting the airflow to No.6 cyl.Jhonno wrote:never seen the exhaust manifold but the inlet looks like it restricts the 6 pot..

I'm not sure but I heard that zoom maybe shutting down or moving location. It's something that was on driftworks a while back.

if u do the conversion properly, u won't need the restrictive zoom manifold as u can use the propper BMW one. It can be done as there is a car on here!

that all well and good - i don think the inlet will be a problem - looking for a mk2 golf one, or perhaps remote? i think the golf is the most popular - porsche not easy to find!
the exhaust on the other hand is a problem. its probably the last thing i need modified before the car can actually drive. it would be very helpful how u guys got along with yours - give me some idea of what to do.
cheers guys,
ps, is your car on the road now james? if i remember correctly, the last time we spoke the headers were giving you problems, that was a while back!!! i hope it didnt take this long to sort, seeming that im at the same stage!
all the best

ive had mine for quite a while now, 4/5 months.. altho i had a set back of having to find an extra Ԛ£300 for an m3 diff after i found i had been supplied a 323i dogleg small case unintentionally
getting there with the parts list now..
Oil cooler, wiring, manifold and a few odds and sods left to sort/get - Just spent Ԛ£200 with BMW this week on parts
Need to fit my e36 rack before the conversion tho so i can work the manifold round it

Its not been that long
Just over a year since the engine went in, but Ive been held up by work, lack of money, having my exhaust manifolds nicked and the weather - working on the car outside isnt always fun so havent touched it since October
Still, it is 'close' tho, just the manifolds to fit and the exhaust to make and then all the 'make it pretty bits' which can wait until its running TBH.
