Cutting out

My 316i has started to just cut out it will start up right away tho if you pull the clutch in it cuts out any ideas can't really say more than that do you think a good service ? Ie plugs leads dizzy and rotor arm would help it out

when you say "pull the clutch" do you mean when you realease the clutch or engage the clutch?

Push the clutch in it cuts out but start straight away could it be an air leak ? It's not doing it all the time tho ?

Might be a loose air hose/hole in the air intake somewhere. Have a quick look. So are you catching the school bus with Otto Man until you get it sorted?

Does it cut out if you rev it a little, then push the clutch pedal down?

Sounds like it could be a worn release bearing, causing too much friction (dragging).

It was the throttle cable that was so loose that was causing it to only idle at 500rpm so I took the slack up and put it to 900rpm idle and it never cut out again plus the dizzy cap and rotor arm was so poor so cleaned them up untill I get some new ones

Did you ensure that the Throttle Position Switch wasn't affected? What you've probably done is introduced a new fault to cover up an existing one, and your car now has no idea when it should be idling. This will lead to it running rich, sooting up your spark plugs, higher fuel consumption and all sorts of other pointless issues.

Make a new thread in the Tech Section, and you'll get proper help.

Throttle cable has no control on idle speed, other than if it is too tight and doesn't allow the throttle to fully close, then obviously it won't 'idle' at all, and will rev at whatever the cable pulls the butterfly to.
Grrmachine is correct in all that you've done is add another fault, and in that you got all the daft replies because you posted in the wrong forum. Arseing around is permitted in this forum, but any attempt to do so in 'tech help' will soon be dealt with by Grr, myself, or one of the other mods.
You will have an inlet side air leak or a TPS fault most likely.

Well it sorted it and it don't seem to be over fueling runs sweet as a nut so I'm happy
