After checking the specs on both of the E30s, I found that the moredoor has heated wing mirrors but the cabby doesn't.

I'd like to swap them over, so the cabby has heated mirrors and the moredoor has standard mirrors.

Is it a simple case of swapping over the glass? I know that in cars with heated mirrors there are 2 wires which attach to the back of the glass to heat it up, but the question is, will the cabby have this wiring built in, even though heated mirrors weren't fitted to it?

A simple case of swapping the glass over and attaching the wiring to the new glass?

Thanks

The wiring should be in the door (if the pins haven't corroded by now) but is an integral part of the mirror IIRC, not just the glass itself.

Anyway, why would you want heated mirror in a cab? Do you drive the cab through the winter?

This is the question I was about to ask. I think your touring would probably benefit more.

Having said that, my cab is fitted with heated mirrors and seats, not that it ever goes out in the cold or wet weather. :)

Heated mirrors simply connect to the black and the brown wires at the rear of the mirror motor assembly. Polarity not important.
The best way of doing this would be to swap the mirror loom from where it plugs in just below the door tweeter location, but it's fairly simple to splice two wires onto the existing loom.

Thanks, I'll take both off and swap over the bits which need swapping, as the moredoor has had it's time and will be gone soon. Any extras on it which the cab could benefit from, I'm swapping over.

The cab will be my daily driver in all weather conditions, sunshine, rain, wind and so on. :)
Looking to get a nice hardtop for it for the winter months and get it running mechanically stop on.

Morsels, morsels, morsels! One can never have enough morsels; no matter how small!

Brianmoore, how simple/time consuming of a task would it be to swap over/remove the loom from the mirror once the glass has been removed.

In addition to this, I'm looking to swap the passenger side motor over aswell, as the one in the cab as unfortunately passed away!

I'll probably have about 1 hour to do it once I get home from work before the moredoor leaves me for good!

Remove triangular panel inside door, pull up plug and socket and pull apart, undo mirror fixing screws, remove mirror from door, remove mirror motor assembly, unplug wires from same, thread the loom out through the motor base.
Do the same for the other mirror, then do the reverse twice.
