Just for anyone in future who might be searching how to do this.
The abs loom is seperatr to the main body loom but what I only discovered at the weekend is that under the rear bench non-abs shells are missing an extra set of holes, one either side, for the loom to pass through.
Ill try get some pics of the differences next weekend

That is the LEAST of your problems ! Struts are incompatible, as are front wheel bearings, rear trailing arms and rear driveshafts.
Its doable but you would need to be VERY sick/ bored to contemplate it .

As age says I'm prepared for all those things just wasn't expecting this. I have all I need from the old shell I'm using to reshell.
It was more of an addition to what you normally read which is that need the struts etc I never it mentioned there's two holes missing, that a big deal/issue

Hardly ! I would rather cut two holes than replace rear trailing arms and drive shafts !!!!

No missing holes on the cab. I did last year. Probably shell production date dependant.
Most significant mod. to a non ABS shell is obtaining and welding in the three mounts for the ABS pump.

Missing a word there, meant to say not that big an issue.pacerpete wrote: Hardly ! I would rather cut two holes than replace rear trailing arms and drive shafts !!!!
The shell it's all going into is a 1990 registered shell, the donor is a late 93 shell, both 318s maybe it is down to production?

I had dabbled with the thought of this as I have a donor car and I'm transferring it's legs but that puts the nail in the coffin for that idea.
Disk'd trailing arms will still be compatible with the driveshafts that were on the original car with drums, though?

ABS and non ABS driveshafts are different. The non ABS shafts do NOT have trigger rings.mcspike wrote:I had dabbled with the thought of this as I have a donor car and I'm transferring it's legs but that puts the nail in the coffin for that idea.

The holes are pre pressed, you just knock them through with a punch. In a standard shell you know where they are due to the missing sound deadening, but you might have covered over them with new?Jozi wrote:If youvhave a donor with abs you have all you need really, its just a pair of extra holes ibwas missing which I thought didnt come on non abs cars.
