I'd rather have new, got a new one fitted to the touring recently, huge difference, especially when the sun is out, you don't get all the stone chip reflections all the time.

I only paid Ԛ£50 fitted though through my insurance.

I paid Ԛ£150 cash in hand for my Civic. Being a rare car isn't always good.

Have a ring about, see if you can beat that price.

Don't forget it's lovely, as Simon says to have the nice visibility, but as the RAC/AA say, it's also part of the safety/structure of the car. True or not? I'm not sure, but I bet it helps sales!

I had a brand new windscreen fitted about 18 months ago by a local company in the yellow pages, cost me Ԛ£90 fitted.

That statement is not true for vehicle's where the windscreen is retained by a rubber fitting. It only applies to vehicles that have a bonded screen.

It can be classed as a "saftey" item, that stops things flying in your face, but screens fitted with the rubbers make very very little, if any, difference to the structure of the vehicle.

This statement is based on knowledge from within my own family run automotive glazing company (37 years).

Cheers for the replys guys :D

It started as a 1.5" crack at the base of the screen ( passenger side - will this still pass an MOT like this? ) and during a run back to Norfolk from London spread up to about 3", next day - as i was braking for a roundabout - it turned 90' and went 3" across! 8O

Its not moved since :)

Gonna phone some of the local companies, tempted to have a go at changing it myself, but that figure of Ԛ£90 sounds bearable....
