recently purchased a sport and was told by the owner some work was carried out when her husband owned the car back in 1994...she didnt know much info other than it was a 'quick car'....but with her being in her late 50's im guessing any b25 would have felt fairly fruity to her lol

right on with a few pics as i dont know much about engine nums but can someone confirm to me if this seems like a genuine alpina lump and if so do the numbers make any sense in relation to weather its a b25 or b27? Or weather it is a pina or not?
Any help would be much appreciated :)

Sounds promising 8)

Would be a c2 2.5 or 2.6, so the c2 stamp is a good sign, fingers crossed you picked up a juicy bargain :D

The b6's were European ......here is some advice from simon13 copied from the alpina register

ok, if its legit and low milege......

engine, on the block right below the dipstick tube there should be a 4 digit stamping, to the right of it will be another stamping that should read c2/2 then the last 7 digits of the chassis number of the actual car, also check the throttle body, inlet and rocker cover for the MA - some not all have this. Its the guy at sytners who built the car.

I'm guessing the wheels are present? have a look at the rear shocks, yellow bilsteins should be there. The dash plauqe infront of the gear nob, pay no attention to the number given, they plucked them out of the sky for UK cars.

Sytners will have a record of it if its a legit UK car, Alpina will have a record if you can provide the 4 digit stamping below the dipstick tube.

Wheres the pictures, if its auto aswell as being 4 dr, milege aside makes it not that desireable as the other body styles offered

thanks for that bit of info pukar will prob ring bmw/alpina on monday...but me having a guess this was probably an engine put in the car as a secondhand replacement engine? else there would possibly have been other alpina upgrades if it was carried out by alpina themselves?
just my guess really
....and oohhh yes i did get a bit of a bargain even if this lump was a standard m20b25 :D

13 56 618 is the part number for a 2.7 KAT engine.

So the DME is from either a C2 2.7 or B3 2.7 with a catalytic converter.

That looks like a 2.7 block to my eyes as its got c2/2 and MA stamped on it. plus the correct ecu

MA is Mark Adkin, who was the guy who built the cars up in sytners workshops at the time. He used to stamp MA everywhere on some engines, including the throttle body and rocker cover. Whats strange is is after the c2/2 bit it should have the last 7 digits of the cars chassis no.

Saying this my old c2 touring had the same stamping as this, and was a legit car. Its quite possible the guy before you aquired the engine from a witten of C2 back in the day

how lucky are you?!
