Hi all jus recently picked up a pair of gaz gold front legs from gaz just got them fitted the other day using my camber adjustable top mounts and put my front wheels back on, however for some horrific reason my original bmw wheels wont go on now and are cathe the strut on the inside thw geometry setup is fine and to increase the gap between shok to wheel ive given front the maximum possible of camber and yet thw standard bmw bbs wheels stil dont fit?? Is this normal where id require a spacer of 8mm minimum I dont see why ??? Or cud both these struts be welded off a few mm??? Help pls and thanks

Pretty common for coilovers to need lower offsets or spacers as the bit that sits behind the wheel is a lot thicker than on a standard strut.

Changing the camber won't make any difference at all because the hub is fixed to the strut. Shifting it inwards at the topmount is just going to tilt the whole assembly.
cheers,

harry

I have those on mine and have to run a 20mm spacer, which needs new longer wheel studs. They all do with those suspension as as far as I know. Driftworks sell both spacers and studs for a good price.

Maybe you can help me in return, do your front coilovers have the damping adjuster on the top and adjust with a plastic knob? If so, is it easy to turn and does it click?

Mine are nearly new but dont click and its hard to turn. Doesnt seem right.

They were on the car when I got it but they had only been on about three months, so maybe six months in total now.

Spacers and longer studs dont cost to much so its an easy and cheap fix. The only issue I have now is the front looks wider than the rear. I dont care to much as mines a track/drift car but if it was my street car i`d have to space the rear out to or it`d bug me.

If it's the spring/lock rings hitting the wheels/tyres then you might be able to use shorter springs
