Hi does anyone have a list of part numbers for E30/E36/E46/Z3/Z4 steering racks?
I've got a power steering rack that came with a job lot of spares I got which is 3.2 turns lock to lock and I want to make sure what it came out of before I use it.
It has the following numbers on the id plate:
7852 955 228
1 140 829 0

Thanks
Chris

It's a standard E36 rack.

Thanks for the info Grrrmachine. That confirms my suspicions. Still does anyone have a list of part numbers for identifying racks? I checked the wiki and couldn't find anything.

Parts lists are what the RealOEM and BMWinfo websites are for. The part number for your rack is 1 140 829, since BMW part codes are either 7- or 11-digits. Putting that code into Google shows its an old E36 part that has been superceded by a dozen other rack numbers.
