I'm putting my car back on the road, and it needs taxing.
I have to mot it,and have to change address on my licence.
I was going to leave the change of address on the licence till a few weeks, but am I right in thinking that's we're they'll send the tax?

Err...No. The will send the tax disk to the address of the registered keeper, as on the V5.

The address on the V5 has nothing to do with the address on a driving licence, nor do DVLA cross check them.....
You don't need to present a driving licence to tax a vehicle.....I could send my 15 year old son to the post office to tax my car, as long as he has the MoT, Inurance and Tax reminder...and the money aswell !

Correct me if i am wrong
Im pretty sure you do not need mot and insurance to tax a car now in the post office, I thought it was electronically checked for mot when they ring it through the till. I taxed my car a few months back and they were only interested in the form, The police have all the details now hence stopping for dodgy number plates that the camera in the car cannot read when checking your mot and insurance.

You are still expected to be able to present proof of MoT and Insurance cover upon request when taxing a vehicle at the post office, as there may be occasions when the "System" is not accessible.

I was just making people aware that you dont have to hunt your insurance policy down in the house any more if you want to tax your vehicle and i see what your getting at if the dvla system goes down then yes they would have to see some sort of paperwork.
