I been refurbishing the rear subframe aand related bits.
Some of the bolts needed heating to loosen them. I guess I need new bolts all round as the heating ruined then. Where do I get new ones apart from the stealer.
Thanks

Trailing arm bolts? They are a fine pitched M12 with a long shoulder, and im sure they are a high tensile bolt too, so they are not an off the shelf bolt at all, if you wanted to replace them like for like you would either have to buy from a dealer or have some made.
I would not recommend using a standard bolt

They normally come included in the kit, when you buy an inner boot for the driveshaft.Jatin wrote:Thanks what about the bolts holding the driveshaft to the diff

These are 10.9 grade. Most cap bolts are 10.9 in my experience, so you should be able to get them from a fastener specialist.Jatin wrote:Thanks what about the bolts holding the driveshaft to the diff

What's wrong with just buying the correct bolts from a BMW dealer?

I bought the capheads from stealers and i do not have the receipt to hand but they are not too expensive tbh. Or like Brian says a fastener specialist,
Also do not use stainless steel on any suspension parts if your thinking of doing it.

The trailing arm bolts (33321136406) cost me £7.39 each from BMW. Can't remember if that's before or after VAT.

Buying from the stealers is an ok option. It's just that I always assumed that they take the mickey with parts that should cost 50p.bss325i wrote:What's wrong with just buying the correct bolts from a BMW dealer?

the parts you require aren't 50p items. You'll be lucky to get plastic fasteners for e30s now at 50p each let alone suspension bolts

Indeed, as I said previously a lot of the suspension bolts are specially made for the purpose, not an off the shelf item hence the higher price

I bought the 12 shaft to diff bolts last week from Cotswold BMW, they're M10 x 50 and cost 73p each.Jatin wrote:Thanks what about the bolts holding the driveshaft to the diff
