personally, i like them, and would have one on mine if i had the money to spare.
suits the shape , gives it a "fatness" on the road

I have to admit that in the right colour and in MINT condition it is the best option, but, I think non kitted is a very close second, got to be abosulutely spotless though. Face it you just cant beat a clean E30.

I've got both too. My Sport is obviously 'avec' Mtech kit, while my 318iS track car doesn't have it, just an iS lip spoiler. They both look cool though...

my opinion is they generally look more 'classic' without a kit on, but also a bit weedy.
as a different perspective, i prefer the old 5-series WITH the M-tech kit on:
my old 528i without kit -

...and my current M535i with kit -

like i say i think the blue car is much cooler, even if the kit is a bit 80s!!!

Yup I know where your comming from, my old E30 had no kit and in that dark green colour it just looked mint, couldnt fault it, and couldnt have justified putting a kit on it either. Looking at buying another, this time a mint 325 in a dark colour witha kit. Gotta be done.

E28's without a kit are better in my opinion... take a 'stealthy' M5 as an example... lovely.
Like the look of the D plate shark nose Toby... very cool with the de-chrome.

Can any one point me in the direction on where to buy a qaulity body kit..?
M-tec or not to M-tec that is the question..To see a BMW E30 dressed in full M-tec kit with phat wheel arches is a great site..imagine what it feels like to drive one

ive had both and cant decide but the e30 m5 engined project i am doing will have no kit thats for sure, just brill red with lip rear and lip front, maybe an alpina front!! heres some pics of my old iS which is the sam as my current project and my sport which has an mtech2 kit

im still undecided, and i think the colour makes a big difference, cos dolphin looks best on sports i think, and red looks good on both!

i do know what you mean! but e28s can look really gawky and awkward sometimes and i think the kit lessens this and looks much meaner.
that poor 528i end up as donor car when i bought the m535i (which came as a non-runner from ebay). i did rebuild and sell the 2.8 after the 3.5 was running but it was never quite the same again!
nice car though, my first bm when i was 19... charcoal interior with front armrests, all the toys bar leccy seats and aircon... manual box, dechrome... i did love that car!

Toby: the 335i's looking mean as ever! Did you get rid of the iS lip or is it waiting for a good home? I'm interested if you've still got it.

the m-tech looks good but the rust under it is a cutn. I'm very glad my minty bodywork was never fitted with a kit. dad's iX looks perfekt and the only place there is any rust at all is under those wide skirts.

I prefer the mtech 1 kit to a non kitted car, but i prefer a non kitted car to the mtech 2 most of the time. I could be accused of being bias, but ive had all 3 varieties so
Pre-facelift cars need the kit in my opinion, but post facelift cars dont. I do like fairly subtle styling though, so maybe that influences my opinion.
Hartge Kits are phat anyway, regardless of pre or post facelift.

i'm on the verge of needing a poll about this as i REALLY can't decide.
i have a gen mtech2 spoiler to match the kit waiting to go on if i want it, but i really like cars with deep bodykits and no boot spoiler (you know what an alfa 156 GTA looks like?)
trouble is, while i can just unclip most other bits of the kit, the spoiler needs holes drilling in the boot which would be very obvious if i removed it again...
i think i need to get the whole car in on e colour first to see how balanced it looks. still think that spoiler's staying off though!

'get the car sprayed'... i think you mean 'when you try to spray up the rest of that ridiculous bodykit using your mates spray gun'
ha ha.. no it's a very good idea that, cheers scott
alternatively i could buy a red bootlid and leave it red... it'll match the rest of the car then!

It's difficult to tell without seeing the full car in the right colour, but it does look good on cabs with the M-Tech II and no boot spoiler.
Can you get someone to fotoshop a pic for you?
