Can anyone tell me how I should identify e30 m3 strut tubes and rear trailing arms against a set of e36 items?

Fronts are easy, they'll be an all in one welded unit if they're e30 struts. E36 ones have a separate spring / damper unit which bolts to the hub.
Rears will be trickier if bare as they'll look similar, but the e36 ones will have a slightly wider track.
If they've got discs still attached, then I'm pretty sure the e30 m3 discs are a different size to 318ti ones.
