My battery's been flat for a month now-I have a charger which I've used before, think it takes around 12 hours.
Now I'm thinking the longer I leave it something else could need attention....hadent used it for a month before this except opening the windows after giving it a wash and a bit of air,
Wouldn't of thought that would flatten it!
Any thing that I need to do or check before I plug her in?

Check that the boot light isn't staying on. If you have a multimeter, disconnect one of the battery terminals and measure the current drain with everything switched off - it should be no more than a few mA.

If it's more than around 20-25mA, then you have a drain issue that needs to be looked into.

If leaving a car standing for more than a couple of weeks, it's advisable to disconnect the battery to prevent discharging.

Gently close the bootlid in the dark and observe that the light goes out, or depress the plunger switch and ensure it goes out.

Alternatively, aside from shutting someone in the boot, use a phone with video capture to record what happens...

Get in the boot and pull it shut.

Modern batteries rarely fully recover if they are allowed to go flat, especially if t5he temperature drops below freezing at any time.

Well after drilling a hole in the boot and then closing it I can rule out the light theory.

Could you imagine seeing somebody put a child in the boot of a car...and then explaining they were checking to see if the battery had a drainage.... won't catch me falling for that.

Like speedtouch said should of disconnected it just thought a few weeks wouldn't do anything.

Hope I don't have to buy a new one it's only 3 years old as is the alternator

If I'm drilling holes in the boot I shouldn't be driving.
I don't believe people would actually think that....
