Your local free adds is your friend for roof racks . I have a set on mine rated at 150kg and a genuine bmw 7 series alloy set with locking wrench thingy and I paid £ 5.00 per set , both under 5 miles from home .
Is that what these are off? I guessed an E46..zaust wrote:I was toying with the idea of fitting e36 permanent rails, but never found a braker to donate them and forgot.

I think they look great on a touring

Those rails do look cool. Are they drilled/screwed into the sheet metal?

They tie into the shadow lines just perfect.Grrrmachine wrote:Those rails do look cool. Are they drilled/screwed into the sheet metal?
The OP of the image originally put this up in the "what did you do today" thread a few months back. I asked them a question or two about it but never got a reply..

They are the kiddies, not e46 they are much thicker at the back base and look out of place. Now I'm on the hunt again after seeing that picture.G-Bear wrote:Is that what these are off? A quick hunt on ebay for an E36 Touring being broken. Opens up some options..zaust wrote:

My headlining does need sorting but out of sheer laziness I cant be arsed to remove the screen and do it properly have toyed with the idea of gaining access from both sides.timmzey wrote:I get soooo many positive comments on them Roof Racks on the Tourer!
Its OK to fit these if your headlining's sagging as its a good time to fix it while you drill the roof bars.
I used a Cage type roofrack on my other old Touring, will dig some photos out as it worked a treat.
No sign of leaks from where they are drilled?

No glass removal required to remove a touring headlining.pac1982 wrote:

Sorry was that "No glass removal is needed" or No glass removal is not needed?Brianmoooore wrote:No glass removal required to remove a touring headlining.pac1982 wrote:

I was under the impression you have screws which hold it in under under the front window seal, my idea was to drop it down at the edges and re glue the roof fabric down with the board still in place
I trust your judgement so if you say it cant be done then it cant be done

No part of a touring headlining is held in place by the glass or the glass rubber. Glass doesn't need to be touched to remove the headlining.
