The original system,was it painted silver or black (m20).

Original system wasn't painted at all, but the boxes were 'aluminiumised'.

Sorry for the hijack but was going to ask myself - what's best for refurbing a standard usual condition manifold ? Can they be blasted and re finished ? I presume not powder coated ?

I picked up a Boysen BMW stamped full system from pacerpete 4 years ago, I scuffed if up and sprayed the whole thing with black VHT paint, still looks the same today.

Yes, I have soda blasted a couple and then sprayed with with silver exhaust paint. Couple of thin coats, baked in the oven to cure. Came up real nice.
