Hi everyone, as some of you are aware, im in the market for a nice 325 m tech 2

There's a few in northern ireland i keep seeing however i dont really have the time to go inspect them! How do i know if they are geniune sellers or just a scam? As some are offering to arrange shipping to mainland uk etc

Are there any members based in northern ireland who would be willing to go and inspect the vehicles for me at a price?

Make the time or don't bother ! You do NOT want to buy a Sport without seeing it unless you have an inspection done by a paedo type who is totally independant of the seller which might be difficult in northern Ireland where the men are men and the animals / sisters are scared ! Ask Bab !

I pondered over a number of Northern Irish Cars.
Eventually got someone on flight there to view/buy a vehicle. He was to be met at the airport by the seller. Seller did not show up, or answer any calls on the day!
Waited for hours, got detained by security and interrogated as to my purpose for being there.
Bad experience.
First and last time i will do it.

I bought a sport in Northen Ireland. Only thing to look out for is if it's taxed as you can't get tax at the weekend in Northern Ireland if the V5 isn't in your name. I flew over to inspect the car, didn't cost too much. The drive back was interesting though as the car had no tax......

How did you go about knowing it was a genuine seller before stepping foot on the plane, or didn't you?

Also cheers for all the quick and helpful responses! Very much appreciated!

Looks like he wants to sell. have you tried the mobile number. Price keeps falling (if it's the same car in all 3 ads). For me, it's a little on the cheap side at that price for a decent one...

That car has been on the market since Q4 last year.
Im suprised that it hasn't sold, especially at that price.
Ask for more pictures, MOT cert etc.
He seems to need the sale, let him do some legwork to give you the assurance you need.

Who do you think someone in Northern Ireland might be a scam but they guy up the road isn't?

Bab91 is from NI and I'm sure there are a few others also. Also, try NI-BMW forum, someone might know of it.

Why not try get the members down in NI to verify if possible.
Give a little donation for their troubles and save yourself the hassle of a flight etc until you are certain.

All of them cars are lowered, undoubtably with £80 scrap spring kits and original foooked shocks. The 'Alpina' wheels are snide and Scorpion exhausts are nasty and council.

In my many years of experience, cars with these 'modz' are usually scrap owned by people who wouldn't know what a good car was. There are exceptions to every rule but I doubt if these are.

Why are scorpion exhausts "nasty & council"?

Because they are ! They are poor quality with mild steel baffles that barely last the warranty period. Peasants like them because they make loads of noise and the tailpipes are girthy. The reality is that in most back to back dyno tests against a standard exhaust, fitting a Scorpion loses power.

Be more then willing to chuck a donation someone's way to go have a look for me, and it's no different to guy down the streets car but car history etc gets wiped when it gets moved to ni so I've read, that and I wouldn't want to give a guy money and drive the car back if it's not even theirs to sell, if that makes sense! And as for the tacky mods would be a little project removing them etc, would like an after market exhaust to enhance that beautiful sounding six pot!

Blatant racism if you ask me Jozi! :P

Being English & being in Derry the last thing I'd be worried about is my cash!

Gert_8 wrote:^^ Don't ask Bab - he knows jack-shit (actually bought his turd from God's mainland).. :D

Learnt a lot in 3 years old man!

As Pete says Jack, these cars don't look practically appealing. If your heart is set, I've had a car transported from England to NI (to my doorstep) for £425. Your best bet is using the website shiply.

Coleraine & Derry.... How can I put this... They are to e30's what High Wycombe &/or Birmingham is.

It would be an hours drive for me to get to these places, your best bet is Andy. He's one of our e30 guru's.

Let's say if I asked you to pay a visit to coleraine to view one, providing it's ok with you, how much would you like for your troubles?

Leave it with me, I'm working until Friday & then away with the better half over the weekend. I've asked a zoner that is more local to these cars than I am.

Well PM me your details, trying to find your IP address will bore the tears out of me.

Jack, does it HAVE to be a tech 2? I know of a 325i chomie that is for sale here. It's solid and very different (in a good way) emerald green, hartge bits + tech 1 front bumper and it is solid, which is a rare thing. I don't want the owner to sell it to be honest.

If it was a good car, it would have sold long ago.

Good genuine sports do not hang about.

Also there are no issues with coming over to NI and buying am e30 sport. The only issue you have is finding a good well looked after car, close to impossible.

Totally right with the comment if it was a good'n it would of sold by now too, got about 4k to spend, not expecting a minter but don't want to buy into a pit of problems

Yea, some mad culchie from Cavan was let loose with a camera, can't remember his name now ....

I even like the '28 spoiler on the back, he'd be bloody mad to sell it.

Well if you want someone to check the NI e30's, I'm sure we could get someone to do it. I wouldn't be hopeful about them being mint, your best sticking at the e30 hunt.
