Just having a floss through Bilstein's website looking at part numbers of shocks for my 325i Touring. They all appear to be the same throughout the three shapes (saloon, cab, touring).

Front 34-001363
Rear 24-020282

I know that touring and cabs get grouped together for suspension parts. Is it only springs that differ to cater for the difference in weight at the rear or have I missed something?

No. Springs different, dampers the same. Fitted spring height is the same, so why should dampers be different?

Just thought that the load would be increased with increased weight.

Magpie are you taking the p!ss..? Would thought you've been around long enough to see the B6 B8 threads that come along..

B6 - Ideal upgrade for standard dampers, all the benefits of B8, but standard length designed to work with standard ride height and lowering springs up to approx 30mm lowering (please note only a guide the key criteria is to ensure location of spring on droop). Tell me more about B6 dampers...

B8 - Specially designed for lowered sport vehicles. It's a must when sports springs are used
with lowering of 30-40 mm or more. Shortened unit ensures spring is correcly located and gives less droop and more predictable control of over/undesteer and sharper responses. (In some cases only B6 will be listed.

fook ya

Sorry Mick, it was never a pop. I just thought you were messing about.

I'm only going off other peoples input, as I've never had the privilege of owning any Bilsteins.

There's lots of controversy about which of the two are best suited for which height springs.

People have proved that the B6's are actually physically shorter. However others have found that the same Bilsteins from BMW have been different lengths to those from Bilsteins themselves.

But i think as a rule; B6's are stiff, B8's stiffer. Both will accommodate lowered springs.
