the cabs got a real mickey mouse thing on it at the mo, K9 (never heard of it) and want to have it ripped out and replaced. Last time i had an alarm fitted it was a Clifford concept 50 about 10yrs ago to a cossie so a bit out of touch
At time cost me Ԛ£500 as was the top Cat1 but im sure there cheaper now and probably better ones out there too
Any recommendations?

Just get the best you can afford.

No Alarm will stop anyone breaking into your car, it will only let you know that the have do it/tried.

Make sure you get a shithot Immob, Cat 2, this should stop them driving off with it. Have the alarm fitted with a microwave detector.

Cat 2 = immob only
Cat 2+1 = Immob with extra alarm fitted as upgrade
Cat 1 = Immob and alarm.

I have a seperate immob (cat 2) and seperate alarm systems fitted to mine.

All the wires on a Cat 2/2+1/1 systems should be black.

hi m8 i had this alarm fitted to my cab a few months ago and i can report im very happy with it. It has a cat 1 alarm and muti circuit imob and i also opted for the radar sensors (cant remember what there called) instead of the ultrasonic ones. This means i can leave the roof and windows down without the wind setting the alarm off. but if someone puts their hands into my pride and joy it goes off. :D

Thats a Microwave Detector.

It detects Mass instead of air movement. They can be a git to setup if you cant mount them centrally enough in the car.

Will you stop swearing please !!!!!! winkeye

If the rules are still the same as when i was fitting alarms/Immobs, all connections must be soldered and shrink-wraped in PVC, even any crimped connections

I've got a toad cat 1 on mine, has heat sensors plus a few other bits, soon as someone puts there hand in ie when roof down within the car it goes off, does not set off like those ultrasonics you get with others which can be a pain on cabs.

trust me, there are unscrupulous companies who will be happy to take the money and not mention the fact that ultrasonics are no good for cabs, had that when i was phoning around for one.

I have a Sigma too (M30 I think!) and has been excellent for the last 6 years plus. On my other motor, I just have the BMW system, full closure, not sure of its CAT though!

DONT TOUCH SIGMA

I have always had to reprogram them after a few months.. + they are easy to confuse.. would be better off with just a flashing LED and a hidden
switch.. :D

Zaust i need a new alarm for the Rieger as the one on there at the moment is doing my head in. I have the Toad AI606 on the blue cab and it seems a good alarm. It's a total closure one and the only thing that annoy's me about it is the the guy has wired the total closure to the ignition so everytime you kill the engine, the bloody windows automatically close. If you stop to chat to someone, you have to have your engine running. I could never have something like that on the Rieger cause if i was at shows, i couldn't have the windows down and that's a must. PM me or something and let me know what you can do for me fella

Cheers

Ben

The Toad AI606 cat 1 is the dogs danglies from my experience, I've had a few clifford that were utter useless unreliable shite. The Laserline that was on my E30 when I bought it had been fitted from new (1990) and still worked until earlier this year so they're well built 8O

I also like the Toad Powerkey cat 2 immobiliser. It's a top quality piece of kit and as it uses a wirefree transponder on your keyfob it's no hassle at all, you just get in and drive, no faffing about with touchkeys etc.

Cheers,

You can buy an Ai606 for around Ԛ£100 now. Ive spoken to a few places about them but the 'add on extras' seem to range in price, like the window lift modules, does anyone know if the tilt sensor can be added to this model?

Ben im looking into this one coz im shure it will only be a delay relay or somthing more simple i will pm u.
toad alarms are the dogs dangles.and i think there is a external shock sensor which will be better than a tilt one.
and yes cobra were good but i thought they went bust years ago(may be wrong).
as for clifford they just advertise well. when they first came out i put
one in my combi. 2 point imob glass break sensor tilt + shock sensors.
boot bonnet and 120db siren.. 2 days it had been in i went to my van
pressed the fob and nothing..odd . walked upto my van and found the whole alarm sitting on the drivers seat with a note saying thanks for the tools.. and this was on a main road..
