Seen some solid engine mounts as an upgrade to the soft rubber standard ones but they do have a bush in them just wondering how it would feel if I made some purely out of metal and is it even worth upgrading

No bush. Metal to metal. Harsh ride unless you thrash your car daily then you wont notice. But daily driving makes for higher ammounts of vibration

Wanted Nothing atm

Puts increased stresses on mountings/welds etc and will 9 times out of 10 result in cracks appearing

In what way would that be an 'upgrade'? What's the problem with the standard mounts?
Solid mounts are (real) competition only, where the chassis and everything else is inspected for cracks and damage thoroughly, on a daily basis.

These people do about the best compromise between road and track from my experience and they are what I run on my race car.

I do thrash it but it is my daily so will probably just use the standard ones then it's just the engines out and one of the mounts snapped so need replacing anyway , cheers

Copied from another post of mine yesterday.
Use these with the standard mounts.

I love these uprated parts, especially compared with the worn out 23 year old originals.

Talking about engine mounts, is it worth replacing the original mounts with new ones, since I'll be replacing the sump gasket soon and will most likely have to drop the front frame...

Depends on their condition, but you can be certain that new ones are going to be firmer than twenty five year old ones.

Rear beam bushes are another. 'Poly bushes are much better than standard ones. I replaced my 11 year old ones with poly and the rear axle isn't trying to fall out anymore'.

Same with shagged out suspension vs. eBay coiloverz, "my £50 coilz are mint- my ride now handles way better than standard fitment BM shit"
