318is in Classic and Sports Car

First time I've seen one in there. It's on for silly money and has all the 'baby M3', 'very rare' cobblers in the ad, but nice to see one in the benchmark classic mag all the same.

I've never understood why having a baby m3 would be a good thing! Plus if it was a baby m3 it would be half the size as well as half the power! It's better described as a poor mans M3 but to be really honest it's a poor mans 325i.

A 318is is just another model in a range there's always a bettter

Its better than a 316 or 318 or a 320i even

Not as good as most 325i , yet a nice 318is overall has a lovely interior and styling , and I'd say a nice is, is certainly a better car to own and fun to drive than a bogo standard 4 door 325i auto with comfort interior, manual windows non pas and and standard suspension, worth more money too and more sought after...

But a 325i isn't as good as a hartge or alpina 2.7..

Is a 325i a poor mans alpina ? Is an alpina a poor mans m3 ?

Or is a 318is a rich mans 318 ?

And as an around town daily driver, a 318is is a better bet than a 325i

I love the 325i but also love the is and it has its rightful place as a good e30

In a similar theme, Fords mk.2 cortina range had the bog standard, GT, 1600E and Lotus. I owned a 1600E for many years, now an IS. As it's a daily it will have to be a poor mans Lotus,
