afternoon chaps. i'm after this neon, I know they're thin on the ground and this one looks particularly tidy, but I think this time of year an offer of £2600 seems fair, am I taking the p**s?

The worse that'll happen is the owner will say no. I'm not a fan of these 4 pot heavy beasts but I'd say pay no more than £3k for it. Its the last of them so that may make it more valuable than earlier version.

It's the special interior that lets this example down. Both the top of the rear seat backrest and, unusually, the passenger seat is damaged.
Before going any further, check availability/price of replacement covers with BMW.You may be suprised if new covers are available, but they will not be cheap.
IF the seats can be sorted, your sporting offer seems reasonable to me.
The plus side of this car is the general condition, wheels, hood etc look good.

I've made an offer of £2600 already, the seller is saying he won't sell for less than £3000.
I'd be happy to pay £3k if the interior was tidy, I've seen people wait years to come across good replacement front seats for one of these so i'm bearing that in mind with my offer, plus being a month before Christmas.
if anyone wants to text him with some lower offers to make mine seem realistic, please be my guest! you might help me gain an early Christmas present to myself!!

If I were selling that I think I would be tempted to do what he is anticipating, i.e mark it up slightly higher to knock it back to what he wants for it, which is £3k.
I reckon £2800 would probably seal the deal, with your supporting argument that it's close to Christmas, the condition of the seats and you're paying cash!

That's a bit harsh Pete - I don't like the 4 pot variant, similar to my dislike of the touring variety, but it does have an engine.pacerpete wrote:Fooook that ! 3 bags for a turd with foooked velourz and no engine !![]()

With a passenger seat with that kind of damage, I'd be paying attention to the mileage records on the MOTs and services, may well have had a haircut (like most E30s TBH).

People generally buy four pot turds because they cannot afford to buy / run a six pot. For 3 bags , I know I could buy a decent 325 . Obviously it would be a fraught search involving looking at lots of rubbish, but that goes without saying.
If this was a minty 50k cream puff , I could understand why someone might buy it and for a lot more than 3 bags BUT what is the USP of this soon to be 100k + tatty turd ?
PS Byron, AKA Maggspower had a complete neon interior.

The quality of the materials used on the neon edition cars is woeful, and it doesn't seem to cope well with UV. The car I broke had less miles on it than the turd in the ad yet they are in a similar condition. I don't mind the colour though.
With regards to buying the thing, £2600, is more than fair, its all the money for one of these. Even though it is a special edition they are not that sort after. To be honest I find that people are much more accepting of a kick in the bollox on price, in person
Having said that it looks a half decent example.

was reffering to what pete said about 325 , standard looking 325i cabby in white/red with leather, is probably the best way to go if spending good money on a cabby, much nicer/classic/iconic looking, although the neon color isnt so bad, its a bit 90s/max power/bruv looking, and coupled with what can only be described as a horrifc pattern interior, its just not great, you can picture it being purchased brand new by a blonde ditzy page 3 girl in 6" stilettos driving it round essex

Yes, I failed to mention the yanks are very capable of making a manly ragtop.pacerpete wrote:I looked proper hench when I smoked a '60 cad just like this in the 90s

However I have just remembered missing out on a ride(/grooming) in a TR7, from a paedo type who lived near my grandparents, when I was a lad. The relief was palpable. I knew it was wrong, the car that is.
Don't know what made me think of that

i've always been into my triumph's, had a mk1 gt6 and a mk2 spitfire before - but a tr7? that's something that's the sort of information i'd be keeping to myself. i've still got my 325i but I hate driving it in the winter, I'm just looking for something to potter around in for the winter, I had a cobalt blue 944s2, this one to be precise and loved the color, hence why i'm drawn to a neon

I have a neon and a worn drivers bolster, a local trimmer has quoted me £60 to repair the bolster using the exiting blue piping and black vinyl but I need to find a matching grey fabric. They have already offered to do it in a very smiler fabric but its not a perfect match.

blimey, how about 2800 for mine which doen't have holes in the seats and less miles?
It took me a year to source enough replacement seat sections to tidy mine up, and even then I had to settle for used retrimmed bolsters. It seems as though the material doen't handle damp or sunlight very well which is a bit of a bugger for a cabby. I'd say for 2600 if it needs work on the seats it needs to be rust free and mechanically perfect.

Always fancied a neon blue cab, lovely looking cars....I couldn't find one so I need up with my Granite Silver cab instead.
Get that car on your drive...who gives a smeg over £200? You'll kick yourself when it sells elsewhere.

Just had a good look at the piston heads ad, I was on my phone when I posted yesterday.
The issue will be the wear on the centre section of the passengers base. Sections are NLA from BMW. It's the widest section of the patterned material so you cannot use anything from a rear seat or the front backs. I managed to find one mint used base centre and then had a trimmer make one good section out of two for the other.
From this

The damage on the centres in all down the outside edge in the crevise so not easily seen (OP take note)
