Since I bought my first e30 at the beginning of this year, I've noticed on PH and auto trader (and even in our for sale section) that the price of our beauts are slowly but surely going up.
Is this real? Has our cars truly bottomed out and are on the rise? Or am I talking utter BS...

Asking prices have went up, selling prices on the other hand are a completly different thing.
If you believed all the adverts a rusty shagged out E30 with any engine as long as its taxed and MOT'd should be a grand.
The reality is very different though.

you can still find the odd bargain now but most want £500+ even for a total shitter these days.
I paid £250 for my first E30 it had very little rust and tax & MOT the owner just thought it was old and worthless.
Any E30 in really good condition these days is worth £1500+ even a 316 as long as its a very clean shell, decent owners and well presented

THAT !!
nice cars, increase and have done, a nice clean 2 door is now a sought after thing/rare to find
having been in the market myself for a 316/8i manual,or an is, just tidy enough and not needing new rear arches and a whole load of work, for reasonable money....has been hard
as you say, seems like every seller of a heap o shite with bubbling all over it and looking battered, thinks its worth £1500, or their nice reasonably clean 316i nothing special, is worth £2500-3k !!
its comical, but hard work !!!

Have you found one? If not this might suggest that the market and your expectations are in different places?polsta wrote:

Completely agree. The more I look at the ones on the market now, the more I realise that although some are priced high, they have tears in the leather, or have been wide-boyed up.polsta wrote:Rtaylor2208 wrote:Asking prices have went up, selling prices on the other hand are a completly different thing.

I guess its a nice thought that there's the chance one day all the money that goes into the e30 might be recoverable

On another note, why is that people like 4star classics sell theirs for astronomical prices?!

Because an old boy will go in wanting an e30 to relive his younger days and won't mind spending a wad if the turd is well presented. Plus you don't have to deal with the hoard of mongs around while buying

They're well past bottoming out! The low point was about 7 years ago when two grand would get a really nice 325i sport, and cars were getting scrapped for pretty minor rust.
cheers,

Anyone else noticed that there hasn't been an unmodified RHD 2 door 325i that isn't a Sport for sale on the zone for a good while now? 4 doors are in equally short supply, Tourings and cabs seem to be readily available though.
A lot of people within the e30 scene seem to be throwing money at Sports and breaking other 325i's to get them looking nice. I guess a lot of them have been rallied (thank you Chris Harris) and used as track day cars. At least one of my previous cars has been exported.
If, like me, you're an old git who doesn't want a low car with a bodykit or any modifications, you're now going to be forced to pay through the nose for it (fortunately I have one already though).

Pacer the frag-coont lol. Still waiting on parts for my henna. So fortunately the frag-coonts help causes like mine, and because they become rarer making the value of mine go up. Cling on to em boys before pacer and his cronies frag em up!
I'll check with the manager
