Hi

First post here :) (Hope my English is not to bad)

Just sold my Cadillac Deville 1969, and want to invest the money in a new car. Want a car that can increase in value, and still be fun to own and drive.

The BMW E30 M3 is looking pretty nice on every point, not produced in large numbers, racing heritage and a great drivers car.

Will spend up to around 27.000 Euro on one, but what to look after ? ...

- As original as possible
- Low kilometers numbers
- Preferably not rust

Has found this one (Go to page 3)

http://www.ucars.se/fordon-i-lager/alla-bilar.html

BMW M3 Coupe
- 1988
- 9 300 mil

Image

Think it look pretty great, but never owned a BMW before ... Of maybe a convertible

Image

Any good advice or what to look after ? - Would love to own a great original E30 M3 :)

Regards Henrik

had you asked this question a few years back I would have said yes its a great investment but I'm not so sure E30 M3's are gonna rise much more in value over the next 10 years apart from extremely low miles or rare variants.

I may be wrong but i remember a time when you could pick up an E30 M3 all be it a slightly ropey one for less than £5000 now a ropey M3 will cost you about 10k and really nice examples 30k plus, IIRC the most I've seen one sell for was over 100k but that was totally original with only delivery miles.

they have had a peak in value and I expect it to slow down somewhat now

This site is more about sorting out mechanical problems than giving financial advice. :D

You have listed the 3 points I would look for - originality, low miles and free of rust.

I have never seen an interior this colour before but I like it

If you want originality, low miles and no rust, then your budget of 27k euros will buy you about 50% of an M3. You missed the chance to make money on the M3 market by about five years.

Maybe you should look at E36 M3s - I'd expect them to go up in the next few years. Or a Saab 900 Turbo, if you can find one.

I did not think you could get an Evo 2 in diamond black. :?

Beyond the brows and shite wheels it does have the correct Evo 2 interior and white cam cover and plenum though.

I thought you wanted a nice car ? :? that thing is rubbish and the other two don't look too promising either.

If you want a REALLY nice PROPER car , send me a PM as I know of one currently being recommissioned after a long period in storage.

John Castle in the BMW Car Club who is in charge of BMW E9 Register should be able to help you find a good one or contact Munich Legends.

What's wrong with those? Both look great.

Must admit,I'm not a big fan of M3 cabbies though.

Te most valuable cars are the most original and untouched.

The car in the photo may well be a lovely vehicle, but there are hints that its not always been owned by a sensible gentleman of a certain age, and cherished with no expense spared.

From a quick look at the pic, pikey eyebrows, eBay M tape decal, incorrect grille badge on the wrong side, not very nice looking aftermarket wheels, and a random extra aerial drilled into the back of the roof.
cheers,

harry

Pony, your link opens a page full of them. do you mean that model or a specific car on that page?

They don't look all that to me, I'm afraid to say. If you're after an investment I think Pete mention the Z?? Coupe?
