I have a cheaper alternative and I charge the battery fully, then leave it disconnected, connecting on the few occasions it's fired up during the winter months.

the Ctek chargers are designed to be left connected - it will be fine. Once the battery is fully charged it automatically switches to "maintenance" mode which keeps it at full charge.

The charge you have is similar to mine and it's fine to leave it connected. I didn't think it was a good idea to disconnect the battery as this screws up the cluster batteries..?
