UK

The fact that all e30s in the uk have levels of rust and holes and most require welding. however have sum level of maintenance and have the MOT tests.

Or Africa

with perfectly rust free shells with fooked mechanicals and been broken into at least 5 times in there life with bruvved wheels and smashed front and rear valances, and completly trashed interiors and the cheapest to be around £2000 uk money  and dont forget the fact most 6 cylinders have been running on 5 cylinders for the past 10 years

My first E30, a 1984 320i L-Jet moredoor, had a stripped spark plug thread on No.6 cylinder, yet it ran surprisingly well, with the plug held in place with MIG-welding wire and JB Weld!

On one MOT test, I had to craftily disconnect the injector to that cylinder to get it through the emissions test though!

Well, that's the beauty of a six-cylinder engine isn't it? Two spare cylinders!

One of my most 'nteresting drives was a three hour jaunt across Lagos in a '83 318i auto' taxi' . The driver was very impressed when I commented that his was the early pure three speed turd with the gnarly M10 naughty lump :) He was less impressed when I gave him a running commentary throughout the journey of all the terminally foooked bits on his car (all of it)

In fairness , the plucky little turd did not miss a beat . More by luck than anything else as NONE of the dash instruments worked !
I believe the only thing you need to get a Lagos state taxi permit is a working horn and a bulging brown envelope :)

How long do you have to be a resident before you can export though? Get shacked up with a local Alex, she'll be able to export as many as she likes and then get them bought from her once they are registered here and get them garaged up at Darlo for when you return to blighty.

They have not all been turds pete :)

You can export straight away, its easy to export cars from here its getting them in with the 100% import tax so the president can buy more wife's and cars.

There is all sorts of wierd stuff you could sell in the uk

2009 Corsa B's
2010 Mk1 Golfs
2012 Mk5 Fiesta Pickups
new corsa C Pickups
2008 80s shape toyota corollas
and they still make 1980's shape toyota land cruisers
still make the previous model fiesta
the list goes on

It was quite funny i seen a Mk1 golf Police car with 5 large police guys sat on its bump stops yesterday, they even had the seats in fully gangster position, a bit like what you find in a tech II pre facelift cab from Birmingham

Regards shacking up with the locals, my Horrible North east accent is loved by the women here :)

I'am working out here Barry, Not alot going for it in the UK wanted to get out :)

There is a girl in the office whos partner runs some e30 club, i was showing her pictures of some rusty tech 1's from the members gallery and she was gobsmacked that an e30 can rust

I have not seen a mk4/5 fiesta or KA with rusty arches yet and thats saying something

As for the lifestyle in South africa, you have maids and servants, you work hard but party twice as hard, BBQ's most nights, So much more sociable than the uk
