I expect I have one that I could sell you.

This part is not needed though, and often removed. I have removed it on numerous cars without issue.

Does the rubber donut still stay if the vibration damper is removed?

Common practice is to delete the 'damper' to no ill effect. Standard doughnut as per usual BUT be careful if buying a new one as some of the aftermarket ones are CRAP (Q DRIVE, yes we are talking about you !) Also be sure to fit it the RIGHT way, many do not and wonder why it disintegrates in weeks/ months :(

YES you need it !!

the prop fixes to the donut and the donut then fixes to the gearbox flange

look at realoem.com drawings mate, that will show you how it all connects together

Yes.

The story is, the material that the original rubber "guibo" was made out of caused vibrations. This rubber has now been changed and no longer results in vibrations. There for the damper can be junked.

This is the story from Brianmooore, he is a well respected member and mod on here.

Like I have said I remove the damper with no ill effects.

The only cars I 'fit' the dampers to are quattroportes, usually placed carefully on the (soaking wet ) indigo rear bench for their final voyage :D
