I've gone and lost my locking wheel nut key. Is there anyone local (traders / breakers etc) with a selection of these that I can borrow?
I happen to have a spare locking wheel nut off the car so I can bring that with me to test any lock nut keys you happen to have.
I literally need it for a few hours then can return straight away.
I need to get a wheel off to sort a brake hose so I can pass the MOT

If the number on the end of the spare locking wheel nut is anything to go by I need number 12...

I don't have any spares to replace them with. I'll get a pic in the morning. I'm also going to call BMW in the morning to see how much a replacement is.

Not in the front/rear ashtray, is it, or the glovebox, or the door pockets, or rolled under the seats, or rattling about in the boot somewhere?

Yeah he standard BMW offering. I have one from an old set but its too small
Can't believe I lost it, I did the same with our Ford Focus a few weeks back, was a right pain to get the last one out - needed a welder!
I think I must leave it in the wheel and then lose them when driving off.... Epic fail.

Checked everywhere, then checked again

I used it a couple of weeks back when finishing the suspension upgrade.

Didn't put it to the back of the toolbox, or a coat pocket, did you?
You can, in desperation, hammer a slightly larger socket onto them and undo it that way.

Westley Grove is about 30secs from my house lol
It's not road legal but I do have a spare locking nut I can bring round. Who shall I ask for? I'm round the corner in Paxton Road!

It could have gone in a pocket...which one is anyone's guess lol. First place I looked was the toolkit, that's where I keep it normally.

I would have thought that a large Torx driver would fit that.

Ok. There's two types. There's the fine splined version and what looks like you have there, the course (square) spline type. The latter is quite rare compared to the former and I would lay money on the offers you've had so far all hold the former fine spline version.
You need to got to BMW with proof of who you are (utility bill or passport etc.) and order a new key no. 12. That's the code for the key.
I have that type on my e39 as they are stronger and harder to damage but just checked my key number and it ain't 12!!!

Sorted. They are only £8.15 from BMW so nipped to Pompey and picked up a replacement. For info the number at the bottom of the nut is the same as the number on the locking key itself.
