Hi, running a vgc 1989 320i convertible (auto)....alongside mint 325i Sport...but was wondering what subtle tweeks might be suitable, to improve ride, suspension, handling, etc. ??? Any clues - not extreme - but what mods would improve her ? She runs std BBS allows on F1 Eagles, 79k miles. Thanks.

1) you don't say what size BBS - 15s improve the ride over 14s dramatically (probably the width as much as anything else)
2) I am Mr Subtle - I like the suspension set-up that Hartge put on the E30 - slightly nose down. If you stick your hand between the front arch and wheel at the moment, you probably get 4 fingers. The Hartge suspension set-up is superb, but quite a few hundred GBP. As I was unsure about spending that much money when I didn't know the result, I chose for my conv (with now 68k miles) the AVO Chassis dynamics springs (about 90 GBP) on the standard shocks. This effectively drops the nose down to 2 fingers, and the back is no fingers (if you see what I mean)
The turn-in is more positive, and the whole ability of the front end to deliver is just spot-on. But you don't get skipping or tramlining or a harsh ride.
ps I am relatively old, raced for a while a few years back, and have two other 'classic' icon go-faster cars which I drive regularly, so this is not an 'armchair' opinion.

oh yeah sorry what mods!!!
drop it (40mm on mine) and perhaps a few subtle extirior mods, rear head rests always look nice imo, debadge the rear too
mrlee

for more performance get a 325 throttle body and the rubber hose and whack that on, and the zone chip will set you back about 70notes will be better but to be honest the 320 isnt the best engine especially low down in the rev range

OK, great, just the sorts of things I was looking for. The Sport of for
fun....but convertible needed to be subtle improvements, as a different "creature" !
Thanks Zoners for good suggestions.
