Hi all,
So my 325i has a boot tidy with all lovely original bits in, but I think it's missing a clip with holds it down to the battery tray cover.
Can anyone provide a part number for this clip please? I'm getting fed up of the boot tidy flinging itself out of it's positon whenever I'm on the twisties.

i thought the screw went into the side of the boot, same idea it twists and locks. There is a whole on the right hand side of the tray that locates with a hole in the side of the boot carpet.
iv got the same setup with battery cover and tray above and that's how mine fits. it doesn't attach to the tray below.

The battery cover tray does lock in to the side which secures that, but the boot tidy that slots on top isn't secured down in any way.Rich320I wrote:i thought the screw went into the side of the boot, same idea it twists and locks. At first I just thought this was just how it was.. but I noticed yesterday a hole under the first aid kit slot that looks like it might be for some kind of fastener.
See this for what I mean: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-BOOT- ... 35c874f627

i see
popped out and checked mine and it has a corresponding hole in the battery cover, iv just realised mines missing also so i cant tell you what it looks like. temp fix could be some double sided tape, but iv not had mine fly off, im obviously not going fast enough

I've just put my box of bits and pieces next to it to stop it moving for now.. hopefully someone will come along to clear up whether or not there should be a fastener here!

There is a flap cut into the boot liner which you can pull out and it lips over the vertical inner edge of the tidy tray. Mine has never come loose using this method of fixing.
I don't believe there was ever a fastner that joins the tray to the battery cover (I may be wrong though).

These are sensations as hard to forget as they are to ignore.....

I think it just uses / little push turn black plastic screws, one in to the carpet hole and 1 in the holes that line up on the tidy and battery cover ? Someone should be able to confirmRich320I wrote:i thought the screw went into the side of the boot, same idea it twists and locks. I HAVE AN ANSWER!!!!!!!!
(for about £2)
i had the same issue a couple of years ago and it p1ssed me off that everytime i turned right, my boot tidy fell off! this bugged me for ages, so i went to the dealers to ask. the guy was incredibly useful and although he did not know the answer, he tried something that works amazingly well.

get part number 2 (71111117440), the grey screw plug that holds the toolbox shut. it screws 100% perfectly into the hole on the bottom of the boot tidy and into hole on the top of the battery cover, so no more movement at all. looks pretty good as it is an oem part. now, your first aid kit will sit about 2cm higher now as it is on top of the screw, but looks great and will not fall out....no more tidying up your boot!!!!!

There was a clip designed for this purpose, but it became NLA a long long time ago. IIRC, it was a screw with a rubber bush that when tightened the rubber bush expanded and held the tidy to the battery cover.
Chris...billgates, you still got it in my old sport?
