Hi Guys,

I fitted my car with the H&R Cup kit, 60/40 drop, and also fitted new E92 top hats, so expecting a 70mm drop, but it still doesn't seem that low at the front. The car hasn't moved yet, so may settle a touch, but can't see it being that much. I've even stood on the strut towers and bounced and made sod all difference and there wasn't much travel.

Now I also fitted H&R adjustable anti roll bars, which are on the stiffest setting, would these being so stiff have potentially stopped it dropping any more? Might sound silly but I'm just scratching my head with this one.

definitely not a 70mm drop bud, as you know, cant see how anti roll bars would stop a car going lower as thy are to control body roll.

how far is the sump off the ground? mine has 70mm drop and i struggle to get a pack of 20 under the sump.

I haven't actually checked the sump yet, I'll do that tonight. It's definitely a 60mm kit as I checked the numbers on the springs and they matched up, just baffling me. The only other thing that might affect the look at the moment is it's on it's arse at the back with the boot full of stuff. Just can't see even with emptying the boot and driving it to settle that it's going to drop that much.

With a driveway like that I think I'd want to raise it not lower it!

It will settle a lot when you drive it.

Driveways getting tarmac'd as soon as the Mrs' nan pops her clogs. There's nothing that will catch it anyway. I hope it does settle, just not holding those hopes too high

If i jack up my car and then drop it, the car will normally sits about an inch or so higher. Then as soon as i drive it a few feet it settles back down that inch.

If your cars drivable, take it up and down the road quickly and see if the car drops a bit more. Obv if its a new setup the springs need to settle properly too.

This is true, that's why I was bouncing my fat ass on top of the strut towers. Can't move it just yet as I need to bleed the brakes. Hopefully should get chance this weekend so we'll see I guess

Haven't put them on yet mate, need to order some decent spacers, but the Mrs birthday has just emptied my account. Looking forward to having them on though

Impossible to fit them upside down as your springs wouldn't stay seated.

Just looks like a case of the car needing to be driven to settle it down.

Anti roll bars won't make the slightest difference.

The whole point of an arb is that it doesn't affect normal comfort as it can move up and down with the suspension. Only when the car rolls it tries to twist the bar.
cheers,

I was just wondering if it was actually on such a stiff setting that it was actually pushing back, if you're with me? Didn't think it would be possible, but just exploring options

As one wheel tries to push it up, the other wheel tries to stop the bar twisting. When both wheels move together (i.e. when you're not cornering) then it has no effect of height or suspension stiffness.

Thinking about it in my head now, it obviously wouldn't affect it, as you say there's only resistance when it twists with more weight on one side, with equal weight on both sides it would just pivot in the bushes wouldn't it

Yep, got it in one

ARB's offer what stiffer springs do in cornering, without affecting the ride comfort in a straight line. However on the track you're better off with stiffer springs and less ARB as it regains the independence of side of the axle, and being on the track, you are obviously less bothered about ride comfort.

On the track in the wet many people remove one of the rear droplinks to disable the rear ARB to prevent the inner wheel going light on corner entry/exit so they can get the power down better (but you don't lose out as you are going slower so don't mind the drop in spring rate as the load distribution on that side of the car is less than in the dry). :D

What would an adjustable arb achieve you in normal road usage. I am interested in these as I have the h&r cup kit on mine. Where did the arb kit come from and how much. Did you do front and rear set up

Bought the front and rear kit from venom for £299. To be honest I've replaced all suspension so just decided to get uprated arb's. Could have got the eibachs but as I had the h&r suspension I got them to match. Haven't driven it yet so can't give any feedback

That generally just settles the rear, the rear has settled fine, it's just the front. Had all intention of bleeding the brakes at weekend and taking it for a run but it just didn't happen

that will definately settle after some driving.
when i lowered mine, I didn't think it would settle much, so I pretty much slammed it.
Came to my car about a week later and the car was sitting on the wheels. I couldn't even move the car, so i had to jack it up and raise it a bit from the adjusters.
