I have a spare set of lights and thought I would try it, to see if it suits the car and if not just remove the film, I know its sort of tacky, but I think on the right car they look quite cool and make it look more retro, for that euro look.
If its shit I'll just peel it off

ok good good. If you're after any more let me know and I'll keep an eye out.
Also my bumpers on the red 2 door are all faded and there the all black plastic ones, whats the best thing to do with them, options are spray gloss black, get good black ones, or zinnoberot colour coded ones.

No can do, all the mountings are different, it means you have to butcher the panels etc... to fit, not worth the aggro.

I may give this a go as well! My car is red without a kit and I think the yellow high beam combination may work well. Will order some tonight, and will post up the result!

yes that's why i thought id put on mine. After seeing his, it really suited the car and that was red, so thought they might suit mine. Wish i had a chromie though.Jim320i wrote:I like yellow headlightsOnly works on certain cars. Ricky had them on his 323i, just the outer lights I think. Rav did they for him. He was at Beaulieu with it too.

I have used the ebay stuff
I think it was called laminex, works brilliantly on both my lights, the yellow light at night is cool.
I have also use the spray on stuff before and it doesnt last right long as it chips and peels like crazy after a months worth of driving, thats even with loads of curing time and lots of clear coat. So id stay away from that stuff if you get tempted.

Heat gun maybe??? I wouldnt trust myself with a blow tourch!!!adam_2922 wrote:If your brave enough going over the black bumpers with very lightly with a low power blow torch brings them up a treat.
I have Lamin-X on the inner front lights on my Alpine White touring. IMO look pretty good.
You can get pre-cut for E30 from the US and it's virtually the same price (inc postage) as a sheet ordered from UK, which you'd have to butcher yourself. I couldn't find as pre-cut from a UK supplier. Maybe I'm just lazy...?
Mine been on a good 6-7 months with no peeling or fading problems.

What I plan on doing at some point is using a fine sand paper to clean up the plastic trim and then give it a few coats of some plastidip matte black spray stuff. It's what I did on my grills and they came out how I wanted so figure that should work well for tidying up the bumper trims. The nice thing about it is that you can just peel it off is you don't like it.matt86 wrote:Also my bumpers on the red 2 door are all faded and there the all black plastic ones, whats the best thing to do with them, options are spray gloss black, get good black ones, or zinnoberot colour coded ones.
It is about £15 a tin though and I'll probably want a couple more tins to do all the stuff I want.

eBay, for around £2-£3 with free postage, did my fogs and high beams on my brilliantrot, some people hate some people like, I think it looks cool on. I'll try and get a pic.
Also the Lamen x tint film will preserve the headlamps from stone chips etc as its thicker that you would think.
Tan.
