Hi,
I have a g reg not so brilliant red moordoor and have lacquer peel on one of the wings and what looks like some
lacquer over spray on an old repair on the rear quarter. I have two replacement wings to go on, both original I think (btw how do you tell?). Only one of these wings seems to have lacquer?
I always thought it was the metallics that had the lacquer and the flat colours didn't. But from searching on here it doesn't seem so clear cut. Is there a definitive answer? Any tips for lacquer peel repair?
Cheers
What is lacquered?

take the wings to e30topless he's not far from you and he'll tell you if they are copies or post a pic up where the headlights would sit the pointy bit that meets the bonnet should be more rounded and not pointed if that makes sense

None of the non metallic E30s I've owned have been lacquered.

I think modern water-based paints have to be lacquered to seal it in, whereas older cellulose paint such as used on 1980s cars in solid colours didn't need it.
A genuine wing should have BMW stamped on it somewhere, along with a part number.
