The weissman ones come colour coded and covered in vinyl whereas the original ones come in vinyl covering in varying colours.

I have just won a hardtop on ebay, problem is i was just having alook at the pics again and i noticed a few questions sent from fellow ebayers. One stood out as the guy claimed it was he old hardtop and wanted to know if it still was leaking and how long he has had it for.
The guy that is selling has only had it 2 months.
Do these things leak are they serious leaks should i walk away i dont want to be stuck with a hardtop that leaks please advise.
Cheers

They do leak a little but you can sort it cheaply.
I personally carefully run a very thin straight line of black masking tape along the top join between the hardtop and the top of the front screen. If you do it slowly and neatly enough it looks just like a normal black rubber seal. Additionally it will not leave any marks that you can't clean off when you take it off for summer. Infact it looks neater than a rubber seal. My hardtop is painted though so i suppose the tape will get a better seal.
Worth a go as mine is absolutely water tight, no good though if you have the top on and off all the while, mine stays on from late September to late March.
Don't use gaffer tape though and keep it neat and straight......!
Andy.

o you tape the rubber on the hartop or the metal panel above front screen where hardtop sits?

I run a neat line of tape along over the join of the hardtop and the top of the metal above the windscreen which then covers the gap where the rubber is exposed, it actually seals over the rubber. I'll try to get a pic.
Basically looks like a rubber windscreen seal as they join the screen to the frame by overlapping each slightly.
