So I'm hunting for an e30 at the moment and this popped up:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0799882291
4k.. I've spoken to the seller, who is unwilling to sell without the wheels, etc. so wants it gone as a whole.
Firstly, how much do you think it's actually worth? It's a non-sport, but as long as the bare metal respray is up to scratch, it's in really good condition and is the exact spec I'm after (white, black trim, 325i).
The wheels would be going, along with the audio in the boot, interior, door cards, gearstick and steering wheel. Depending on how loud the exhaust is, that may be replaced for something more subtle.
Technically I'm pretty handy so doing the work above is not a problem. I'm wondering if I wanted to sell the above parts, would they actually sell and how much would I expect to get for them? Also how easy would it be to find standard replacement parts?

That does look "Clean" for the bodywork.
Putting it back to standard is easy enough, but your looking at the 4k he's asking, then bits on top to get it back to near standard.

If you Got "Haters",Then your doing something Right!

Replacing the tacky parts will cost at least £1K in parts so you need to factor that in and deduct it from what a non molested one would go for. As it stands its hideous so the startin price should be low. There is very little demand for something that ugly.

You could buy a shitter, repair all the rust and end up with a decent 325i for a lot less than the 5k that thing will cost you.

I doubt that the tastless interior(IMO!)will sell for more than the value of the seat frames, say £50.However,it may be possible to either dye the white bits black,or get a trimmer to re-do in black.Likely cost will depend on the route taken, from £50 to £500...Complete leather interior s/h will depend on colour and condition,£250/£500.
I would suspect that the rear arches have seen some 'action' to clear those 'orrible wheels, needs a careful examination of the lip edges.
Re-paint looks good in the piccies,if it's been done properly with all the known rot spots dealt with.
In my opinion, car is worth no more than £2k,I value it as a rot free(?)325iSE.

That interior made my eyes hurt, imagine sitting in it
If the shell is spot on and all the mechanicals have also been refurbished (new bushes, servicing etc etc) I don't think it'd be that bad a buy as the tat that's been stuck to that will sell easily (interior might hang about unless you priced it cheap).
Buying another car (assuming you can find the colour/model you want), respray & welding, suspension refurb and engine servicing will cost you more in cash and a lot lot more in time and effort than buying that.

I wouldn't say a lot less, if at all, unless you're doing all the work yourself. Then factor in all the suspension work the car is meant of had, theres not far off a grands worth there with the powdercoating, shocks, springs and bushes. Not like there's many 2 door 325i's up forsale these days either.Grrrmachine wrote:You could buy a shitter, repair all the rust and end up with a decent 325i for a lot less than the 5k that thing will cost you.

Thanks for the input everyone
I figure 4k for the car, maybe make.. 600-800 off all the bits I don't want, then 1k to replace them all with standard parts.. That's sitting me at around 4.2k for a nice 325i. It seems a lot of money! Surely you're into Sport prices around there, considering something like the below was 3.5k!

That isn't a Sport, it belonged to a member on here not too long ago so should be easy enough to find out about.
A 4k Sport WILL have rust issues unless you're very lucky!

I don't see this white one at anywhere near £4k. Look at this SE, I know it's an auto but looks a nice thing, and this is an expensive one IMO

I personally, given the wheels, interior etc, wouldn't have a great deal of faith in the quality of the work carried out, and in all honesty, I'd be dubious to hand over more than £2k for it

At 4k, I'd think the seller is trying to get back the money wasted to get the car looking like that... and we all know modding a car to individual tastes is a sure fire way of doubling its value
I'd say 2k at most, providing the bodywork has been sorted properly and not just tarted up... I can't see the pics properly on my phone, but has the rear valance been chopped for the tailpipes??

I'm always nervous when they have been resprayed, never know what's been filled and blown over rather than repaired to a standard you are happy with.
Saying that it doesn't look too bad, and you can tell the owner has spent some cash on it even if it's on modifications you don't like.
Put the interior on eBay with £50 start, should attract some bids.

Well I've made him an informal offer and given good reasoning for it. I know if you've built a car like this yourself, it's hard to accept criticism on the car so we'll see how it goes.
He's only 25 miles away from me so its a nice day out in Buxton if it turns out to be rubbish!

I figure if it was resprayed 2 years ago, any nasty parts or bodges should be showing up by nowross_jsy wrote:I'm always nervous when they have been resprayed, never know what's been filled and blown over rather than repaired to a standard you are happy with.

Everyone always advises to look for good bodywork, this looks to have that albeit with possibly messed around with arches.2k doesn't buy a painted and detailed body and chassis. The interior isn't worth reworking imo, try to sell or keep bases and look for a good interior (some may just need new bases which are harder to come by), sell wheels on a VAG forum.
The car looks well looked after, if tasteless. There are worse starting points but as said not worth 4k.

id avoid it, look how bruvved up it is and who knows what the standard of work was like, looks like a total nightmare, you say you can get 6-800 for the bits you dont want- you try selling them !! no ones going to want that interior and wheels etc, and looking how garish it is, would suggest the owner/creator of it is a bit of a bell end and has abused it thrashing it everywhere etc etc
youd be much better of being patient, waiting for the one you do want
