A mate picked up an alpina trouring recently ,
We checkd the diff tag and a far as we can make out it says
3.44 2 ?? Is this a correct ratio and what would the 2 mean ?
As afar as were aware its a 2.5 and not 2.7 how can we tell ? I know pinas should have head work but i only know of porting the inlets .
Do they come with standard or stainless manifolds ??
Genuine alpina 150mph red needle clocks what are there worth ? Do they sell quick ?
The car has alpina tag on centre console and door pillars so we assume its genuine .
Also . How do do you open the bonnet latch with a screwdriver i know its on the passenger side grill but not sure where to poke or twist . As cable snapped cheers
I know theres afew out there with pina fetishes. Simon13 ?

Ahh yes you put an exhaust on it .
Toby bought it off the other guy for the diff , i have no idea on alpinas so , how can you tell that ? I havent had a proper look but i think all needles are red , and looking up there the petrol is white
Is the only way to tell if its been tinkered is whip the inlet off an see if its been ported ?
Oh and thanks ajay

Why would you buy a car for its diff when you do not know what the diff is ?

3.46 and 3.64 are available ratios. Neither were fitted to a touring when new. Obviously it is a 20+ year old turd and if a driftc0ck can afford it, I assume it is a sorry shed with a murky past involving much council / medieval activity

I was expecting 3.64 tbh , shall try and clean it more . Well it is abit ropey but his not exactly a drift cock . His very anal with his e30's tbh lets i think it was priced ok for the bodywork .
And his not bought the touring to keep he already has 2

It is not the crown jewels by any means but it's not a total shiter either
I to would like to know if it has any real 'pina pedigree, Why else would an E plate touring have Alpina tyre pressure stickers and a console plaque with matching id numbers??

nathan take a look at the engine number, post it up this is the best sign for a 2.7
if legit it will probably read along the lines of the last 7 digits of the chassis no.
What colour is it?
The genuine pina heads are stamped also but its very hard to see plus the fact i don't know of a 2.7 C2 that hasn't cracked its original head by now either they all do it!

Si. This could be that diamond black C2.5 that was for sale in the Woolwich area a couple of years ago? Fastfreddie was thinking about the car IIRC

Depending on what fuel tank your e30 has (early or later) depends on what fuel sender is in the tank. I have a tech 1 with an early fuel sender so i fitted an early gauge so it reads correct.(still have the red gauge). By the way the early clocks on the right have hand painted needles done by the dealer! Red needles don't mean much anyone can paint their needles red, the Alpina logo is factory though the same size and place for all thats the best way to id a genuine set.
