How do i remove the fan on a m42

I want to change the alternator belt on my m42, how do i remove the fan so the belt can gain access to the pulleys??

Can the alternator belt go over the fan without me having to remove it

will pass without taking off the fan.
the fan is reverse threaded and requires a 32mm spanner to open it for future reference

to take the fan off you need a 32mm open ended spanner and a hammer ,give the spanner a hit as if to tighten the nut and it will undo .

Correct, but there's no need to remove it to change a vee belt. Feed the belt over the fan and onto the water pump pulley first.
