I've just bought a couple of E46 Cab rear shock top mounts from a well known parts supplier, I wanted OEM and specified Lemforder, however both mounts are stamped BOGE.

Are these two companies linked in anyway or has the supplier swapped the brands in the box?

Fairly certain they're part of the same company.

I know both are OEM but its like opening your new Sony TV box and finding a Panasonic inside, probably just as good but not what you ordered!

Surely BOGE should have come in a BOGE box.

Boge and Lemforder are both part of the ZF group.

In the second pic you can see at the bottom it looks like its been dremelled, they've prob just scrubbed the wrong logo off (Lemforder logo is a triangle). It will be the same part either way, get it fitted! :D

That'll be 'BMW' they've taken off. Common on Lemforder suspension bits like wishbones. BMW parts but with the BMW logo taken off and sold in a different box for a third of the price.

As above.

My dad bought a rear beam bush from BMW.

Then bought one from ECP.(Lemforder)

Both parts same logos, numbers, and looked very much like they can out the same mould but the Lemforder one had the BMW rondel ground off.

Correct, as Andyboy stated the only noticeable difference is the price!

Box engineering, goes on all the time, Clutch and brake components are biggest culprits.

I'd rather have the panasonic.

But to keep it on track. Common practice.

Happens a lot with cambelt kits. You might buy a SKF cambelt kit, which has a Gates belt and tensioner and idler bearing. Also with clutch kits. What you think is a cheap clutch is actually an LUK or Valeo.

However, I did buy a Lemforder prop donught from carparts4less a while ago which was in a battered box and the donught was definately not lemforder but some cheap underbranded piece of crap. But that was more likely someone buying it, putting a cheap one back in the box and sending it back for refund.

As said though, both lemforder and boge are quality oem manufacturers, so there's nothing to complain about.
