Can anyone shed any light on how easy it is to open a locked E30 bonnet whilst car is locked and Toad alarm is on. Then clip the wires and steal my battery.
There was no forced entry and I never heard the alarm go off?

Please tell me this has happened to someone else out there?

Easy to open the bonnet if you know how.

Oh dear, looks like whoever fitted your alarm forgot a trigger switch !!

Its quite easy to open an E30 bonnet....

I don't see why someone would want to steal a battery?

If they got under the bonnet and stopped the siren going off, they obviously know a bit about breaking into cars

Very, very easy to do all of the above. The only thing that would stop me driving off any E30, except the M5x engined ones with properly fitted EWS, without damaging anything is the steering lock.

Thanks for your replies everyone! Still amazed why they stole the battery, I paid £25 for it as a temp measure and it was on its way out anyway! :?

The Toad alarm should have a battery back up if the battery is disconnected?

Alarm wont go off if the fitter (of the alarm) forgot to fit the bonnet switch.......

Be careful mate never know they may of taken battery to disable car and come back later. Also to open bonnet is very easy, I would go back to alarm fitter and make sure they have installed a bonnet trigger so when bonnet is open alarm makes noise also make sure battery back up as well and something I normally do is have air horns fitted.
Clamp battery down.
