The rebuilt Touring made it :D

3500km, including two blats of 1500km which the car pulled off in 14 hours each way. Pulled out of my flat in Warsaw, turned left at the lights, joined the new motorway and dialled in 130km/h. The car did the rest, in magnificent style.

The car now has some niggles to sort out (like a blowing exhaust and a weepy fuel injector), but that's all the fun of ownership. What a bahn-stormer!

About a couple of hours after boarding the ferry, I expect.
As I've said before, once sorted, there's few cars that will touch an E30 for reliability.

Cheers lads!

The trip was just a jaunt to see some much-missed family on the Kent coast, so the Touring got the chance to swoop along the Thanet coastline and have a play in the country lanes around Canterbury. Buttocks were firmly clenched over whether it would it would survive the trip, but now that I'm back I can express how proud (and smug) I am with the Beast.

That's fantastic - you must be very (justifiably) proud!

Well done Grrrmachine, good work mate.

BTW, what makes you think you have a weeping injector?

The massive stench of fuel, and the tiny dribble of fuel around the base of No. 6 injector :D

It's just badly seated, or the rubber gasket isn't on straight, so I just need to whip the fuel rail off and get it realigned, so it's no big deal.

I'm more worried about the oil leak from the selector shaft, since I replaced that seal already. I'll have to find a foolproof way to fit the new one.

You wouldn't recognise Polish roads these days mate. Warsaw to the German border in around 4 hours, and completely empty :D

I'm suspecting a leaking injector(s) too,

I have quite a lot of soot come out of the back end when I first start the car up for around 30 seconds, makes your eyes water.! Engine also makes a dieseling knock sound when I shut it off....

What you think?
