right iv had the battery disconnected for a few weeks on my e30 and isnted of starting its clicking and not trying at all. i hane no clue what is up im thinking it might be that the battery is dead but dash lights are on and no red lights but not enough power to kick the car motor over ?. but iv also had some idleing issues though but dont know anyone could help im going to try jump starting it tomorrow.

Probably a discharged battery, what you're hearing is the solenoid clicking, but not enough juice to crank over the engine.

Do the dash lights dim alot when you try the starter?

thnks for the help mate and the lights are normal but not starting. it started the smorning but just gave up as its bloody cold here so i left the battery connected to the car till i got in from work and its just now clicking, first thing i though of was the battery as i have no clue to when it was last changed so that will be on the list. just thought the clicking was unusual .

flat battery mate ,just not enough life left to turn the engine.
it will jump start or it should.i have a good battery here £25 if yours is knackered.see my for sale thread below.

the idle problems could be a split intake hose or a knackered idle control valve .
