I was just reading a few of the tech artilces, and looking at the one for swapping the chip in an ECU, and it mentions " no sunlight or flouresent light". What that all about ??????

Only thing I can think of is that some programmable EEPROM chips use ultra violet light to wipe the memory. If there's one in the ECU sunlight might wipe it.

99% correct, the chip inside the ECU is an EPROM (Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory) and is erased by exposing it to strong sunlight or UV light.

An EEPROM is an Electrically Eraseable Programmable Read Only Memory

note, this only applies if your actualy removing the chip from the ecu...

if your unplugging the ecu to swap it with another one then no need to worry as its enclosed in tin.
