Folks,

My dogleg gearbox broke :(

What are my options for an M30?? I have heard mention of M10 gearboxes... will the M30 3.5 not just shred the M10 box?!

I refuse to pay £710 pounds for a new one from Fritz Bitz when the car cost me £150 only a few years back!!

Jon :)

What's wrong with a standard non-dogleg Getrag 265 or similar? Shouldn't cost anything like £700...

You can use a M10 box but you will need an uprated flywheel to cope with the torque.

Cant you get the dogleg box repaired?

I'm running an m10 box standard flywheel and clutch, Brand new clutch was toasted in a month. Still drives but can't give it full beans, it patiently waiting an uprated clutch or for me to get my dogleg box fixed, the m10 box seems fine though.

M10 boxes handle the power fine, plus there lighter.

The main issue is getting one - cant find one! Hence the looking into an m10.

People mention clutch and flywheel, the engine has the m535i clutch and flywheel so it should be ok?

Is the m10 box much shorter on ratios (ie is it going to be doing 7000 bouncing of the limiter at 75mph in 5th??)

m30 535i clutch and flywheel will not fit in the m10 bellhousing, m10 gearbox ratios are fine

M10 box, M10 flywheel, uprated M10 clutch (mine was from CG Clutches), M20 prop and gearlinkage (325i I think) with the engine in position 3. The lighter M10 flywheel is brilliant, the whole package worked great in my M30 touring.
