I bought a lower control arm (steel
Took it upto college on wednesday night, and asked the tutor If it'd be possible to fit it...
queue sharp intake of breath and "That'll be difficult to do in 2.5hrs"
Undeterred, I decided to start anyway!
jacked the car up/supported it and took wheel off, then got a wire brush and cleaned all the bolts/threads and applied WD40
left it to soak for 10mins then went at it with the ratchet, voila-one entire (well and truly sh@gged) control arm removed in 20 mins
Removed the rear bush (one in the carrier that bolts to the chassis) and hacksawed out the ring, pressed in new bush and refitted arm.
job done in 1.5hrs inc double and triple checking bolts
I then managed to get the car on the ramp so I could get all the exhaust bolt/hangers ready to come off...thats next weeks task
As for the control arm, ets just say it passed its "100mph round a sharp corner on the m73 in the wet test"
This is the first time the car has had no suspension issues and I cant believe how well it handles!!!
