well,... before we all get judge judy on this let me tell u whats hapninԚ´ ;)

the other day on my hunt for a free parking spot( u know theyԚ´re rare) i saw an e30 parked up on a back street. looked like a cosy place to park, nice neighbourhood having the e30 there so i pulled in behind it and shut down,..

locked up and felt a bit nosey, so i over to the car. a 325 2 dr pre 88.

empty interior, seats, trim, handles, the lot gone.

the door was bent out at the lock, and open,.. literally the door wasnt closed.

no plates on the car, there is a rule over here if the vehicle isnt insured then plates must come off.

but the column was cracked, but ignition barrel intacted.
under wheel panel out and where the back seat would be.

looked as though the wheel was supposed to come off, but couldnt get past the steering lock. bolt lay on the floor where drivers seat should have been,

exhaust, looks like a scorpion backbox. could see attemped removal, but not sucsessful, half layn on the floor still piped up.

anyway, in a shabby state.

thing is...... i think its been nicked, stripped and left for dead. i saw some bits in it i want, like

heated seat loom, buttons and connectors

electric window loom and window runners (although for a pre 88 wont fit, i could still move them for Ԛ£50 squid-

map mirror, dont know if its working

mtec 2 wheel body, horn push gone, but in reasonably good nick.

.....anyway.........

removal of any items are deemed as theft so i shouldnԚ´t even consider it.

and there is all likelyhood that this could be a project motor a youg lad is in the middle of so double nasty if it got stripped out in the middle of the night.

thing is, there are just too many signs that make me think its robbed.

WHAT WOULD U DO..........HONESTLY :|

just out of interest how does that theft law work?

wouldn't the owner have to step forward and actually press charges?

I had a conversation with a PC about this very subject many years ago. His comment was if the owner has been told where the car is and they choose not to remove it then it's OK to remove parts from it, as long as you don't leave it in a dangerous state. Otherwise you could be prosecuted if someone injures themselves from your handy-work.

Ask the local plod if they know of this vehicle, or just turn up with a couple of mates and rag it now.

2 choices
Plan A: forget about it and go and do something else to take ur mind of the car.
or
Plan B: get some mates, wait for the dead of night, dress like Ninja's (there as a post on here on how to dress like a ninja :)) Take the plates of the Touring so she looks like a stealth machine, go at the car like a german blitzkrieg, and get out of there. But dont forget to syncronise your watchs and make sure you dont push the mission past 10 Mins..... winkeye  winkeye

Save up and buy one you know for certain isnt stolen.
On a lighter footing, contact the police, make an interest in the car and they order a 7 day clearence on the car, if it is not collected you have a legal right to tow it away.

I wonder if the Police would believe you if they turned up mid-strip. "Oh yes we just found it"

Would be funny if you got charged with the orginal theft as well

The thing to remember is that if it was stolen. Then technically it belongs to an insurance company. If it was just dumped (which is a possibility) then carry on.

Johnono, you look like a "persuasive" fellow..

i'm sure that if any floks were to question the "legality" of you acquiring parts from said shed, that you'd deal with it in a courteous manner winkeye

as for the law-maybe a quick chat to a police man may indicate any problems-better to know before you "do time"!

good luck with the e30scappy plunderers club

It seems very simple to me, what ever way you slice it your taking things that dont belong to you. If your taking a grill or the whole car theft is theft, I appreciate its a different country but I've yet to here of a place where theft isnt a crime ! :nono:

you should remember that it will belong to someone. if you are prepared to take bits off it , you cant complain if the same thing ever happens to your car or yours gets broken into and the radio stolen.it makes you no better than the local ned car thieves. just my opinion though.

I think you should go back to the car ... remove the heated seats bits and whatever else you want ... send the heated seats stuff to me and in return I won't shop you to the Odense police force !!!

Det er lidt svært men hey ...... Du vil bare have det sammen rat som mig !!!

He he! i didnt think u lot would be so vocal on this!

ok .. my honest feelings on it. Gutted if its a yougens car coz the chances are im not the only one who has seen it and it wont be long before somethings nabbed.'

true , it is someones car, wether they actually are still in possesion of it at the mo or not. taking anything from it is stealing someone elses property

torretti, good point fella, but the issue isnt cost, more the point of taking something that isnt mine in this situation. in which case im gonna do as u suggest and inquire of the legalities of it all.

but cheers for the good advice peeps, i havent been back since thursday? when i first saw it so i dunno if its / any of it is still there. let u know tommorow

Its amazing the things that people ignore if you are brazen enough about it.

Reminds me of a time when i worked at a garage a few years ago and one of the staff ran off with one of our cars. We found it in the car park at the railway station so we went down with a trailer to get it. So, we broke into it (he'd got both the keys), and with the alarm blaring we pushed it out of the space with the front end on a trolley jack and winched it onto the trailer without one single person challenging us.

Obviously, we had a legit reason to be there, but no-one watching would have known that, yet not one person did anything about it.

In your case, I'd be tempted to check with the fuzz to see if it's abandonned first, if so, then finders keepers! winkeye
