I am seriously considering a 325i sport just wanted to know how reliable are they? what are the common problems? if something does go wrong how expensive is it to fix?

They are pretty reliable, but are getting old now.
On 325i Sports in particular are: Rust under the bodykit....
325i's and E30's in general:
General Structural Corrosion
Brake Pipes/Fuel Lines
Head Gaskets/Cylinder Head Problems
Nothing too bad, and parts are pretty cheap now and readily available from here, BMW, or German and Swedish www.gsfcarparts.com or Euro Car Parts.
They are generally strong, especially if well maintained.
Some niggly electrical problems, but if everything is working there is nothing to worry about really.
