My mate lent me his Griffin Motorsport 2.7 sport on Sunday for the afternoon. it was down 30bhp from its usual 220 (fueling ecu problem), but the 200lbs of tourqe was definatly all there. What a beast, haven't had that much fun for a long time. What it feels like with the full 220 horses.........

Before he handed over the keys he should me the article in Performance Car (1990) where his actual car spanked a Hartge H26 and a Alpina C2 2.7 in a comparison test. Very Cool

It was strangly similar to my 320 though, just alot tighter, firmer and a hell of a lot quicker. Made it easy to use the power even if your not used to it.

What a beast though and I've got first dibs on it when he sells it next year, Can't wait. :woohoo:

I haven't had a drive of a 2.7 unfortunately but I have been a passenger in one and I can't say I was overly impressed. It had more torque and power than my car, I could definately feel it pulling better, but it didn't feel like a massive difference and I only have a 2.3. It didn't make me want to build one up anyway. I will put it odwn to the engine not being quite up to the spec of the others people talk about (and it was using the older k-jet system) so I am still looking forward to seeing what another one feels like.

i think i know what you mean, i was expecting much more of a thump of acceleration rather than the more linear acceleration, and from the passenger seat that would be even more exaggerated. it felt fast, but it was only by looking down at the speedo i realised just how fast.

the pull from higher gears was much better though, and the way other cars (especially a very upset looking driver in a new mini cooper S)dissapeared from view in the mirrors means it was definatly quick.

Yeah I guess being linear would have made it seem a little less impressive. It was driven around my area so I know the roads and when he accelerated he told my when we got to 100km/h which seemed ok but I didn't think my 323i would have been too far behind, I haven't been to test it yet though. I thought my car would probably get to 90-95km/h or something by the same point but it will probably only get to 70. I will test it later.
