This will give you an idea of how big a task it is. It'll take you a lot more than a weekend:

You have to cut the valance to make the bumpers work, because the whole mounting arrangement is different, so it's not quite so simple.
Also, if you've already got the bumpers, go and line them up; you should notice the differences in lengths between saloon and cabrio, which while be quite a harsh surprise when it comes to fitting them.
Still, good luck with it if you do plan to go ahead!

A chrome cabby is an appreciating classic, even if the conversion is flawless and looks stock you will most likely de-value your car.

i have done two, its not easy the side skirts need to be screwed in because the lining for clips are different, valance needs changing, pods are okay and easy to fit depending on condition, rear bumper is really hard and doesnt always fit properly. it comes in to the arches and may need trimming, the reinforcement bar will be tricky because again mounts are different. hard work, uif you want a tech 2 just buy a tech 2 origina.l it will piss you off if you get it wrong.

only doing bumpers & love a challenge am going for genuine pre 85 alpina front valence & 3 peice rear & figured i might as well start now as have just sourced all the bits & sun is shining lol
The big problem you've got then is that for the plastic bumpers to fit you need a different front valance to the one you need for the pre '95 Alpina valance.samuraibaz wrote:only doing bumpers & love a challenge am going for genuine pre 85 alpina front valence & 3 peice rear & figured i might as well start now as have just sourced all the bits & sun is shining lol
