Steering wheel m-tech 1 vs m-tech 2?
Moderator: martauto
Hello,
how much better is a m-tech 2 steering wheel than the m-tech 1? Just the wheel on mine just now is the horrible 4 spoke square thing, but dont really want to pay Ԛ£50+ for a nice wheel for it. Is there any difference in thickness or diameter? What about the momo alpina wheel? or will that just make me look like an arse? lol
when did they change to the m-tech 2's from 1? Mines an 88 325i SE would that have been the right age for m-tech 1 or 2 kit?

87 for tech 1, they were only in production for 12 months iirc?
But out of the tech 1 or tech 2 steering wheel go with the tech 2, it looks and feels so much nicer, the steering wheel was the first thing to go on my tech 1.

got a tech 1 on my sport and a tech 2 on my cab, personally i prefer the tech 1, its a slightly bigger diameter and feels a bit thicker, but for looks the tech 2 is better.
there is aslo the three spoke non mtech wheel to consider to.

I've got me an e34 (I think) leather wheel. same diameter as e30 four spoke but thinker and much much much nicer to drive with. I think the orig 4spoke wheels are dangerous almost. A couple of times they've really slipped out of my hands.
E46 M3 CSL but dreaming of another E30.

Tech-IIs are the daddy, ive had Tech-I, some Alpina 4 spoke and Tech-II but prefered the 'II by far! Almost fell off the road once tho cause i caught my thumb in the grip during an attempted drift! Ouch!

Also would agree with this. My '87 sport looks and feels fine with the Mk 1. Don't like the look of the Mk 2 as much after seeing them both together, and in situ.
